Conditions Treated | Fertility and Maternity Care

Fertility

We provide total fertility care for Body, Mind and Spirit.  Our mission is to support all families (traditional and non-traditional, heterosexual, LGBTQ, and single-mothers) in their healthiest possible fertility, pregnancy, and birth journeys. We aim to decrease families’ financial investment in fertility while simultaneously greatly increasing healthy pregnancy and baby outcomes by using natural, effective, and research-proven methods.

Are you experiencing any of the following?

  • receiving assisted reproductive therapy (IVF or IUI)
  • wanting to conceive naturally
  • unexplained infertility
  • wanting to give your baby the healthiest start possible
  • wanting to prepare your body for a healthy pregnancy
  • multiple miscarriages
  • uterine or ovarian problems
  • hormonal imbalances
  • LGBTQ conception
  • single mothering conception
  • can’t afford medical fertility treatments
  • wanting to safely increase your IVF/IUI success

We search for the underlying and hidden causes of fertility challenges and treat those with safe, gentle, and effective natural remedies before prescribing necessary medication.

Chinese medicinal diagnoses and treatments are based on evaluating the constitution of the individual. Acupuncture and Chinese herbs have been shown to increase of the chance of reproductive success by looking at the whole person, body, mind and spirit, regardless of Western diagnosis. Acupuncture is a great complement to Assisted Reproductive Technologies and can increase the chance of pregnancy. Many studies support the benefits of acupuncture when used with ART. In 2002, a German study showed that acupuncture improved chances of reproductive success by 50% when used in conjunction with ART. It can also help prepare the body for a healthy pregnancy and relieve symptoms associated with pregnancy so that one can be comfortable and happy during this wonderful time. By using acupuncture and herbs, Chinese medicine can help restore the proper endocrine balance essential for reproductive success, including, relieving stress and bringing about a sense of well-being and total relaxation, balancing blood sugar and endocrine hormones.

Because it takes about three months for the maturation of the follicles, acupuncture and herbs are most beneficial when treatment is sought three months prior to conception. Acupuncture and herbs can safely treat the following fertility conditions:

Advanced Maternal Age
Anxiety, stress and depression
Hormonal/endocrine imbalances (including FSH or estrogen)
Luteal Phase Defect
Male fertility factor (morphology, motility, & count)
Menstrual irregularities (see women's health page for complete list)
Peri-menopause
Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
Poor ovarian response, egg follicle and quality
Recurrent miscarriage
Thin uterine lining
Unexplained infertility
Uterine fibroids

Pregnancy

Many pregnant women use acupuncture and herbs to treat nausea and vomiting during pregnancy to avoid taking pharmaceutical medication. Acupuncture is also very helpful in alleviating lower back and hip pain that is especially common during the third trimester. In addition, acupuncture can relieve stress, tension and help regulate the emotions during this time.  It is excellent for helping prepare your body for labor.

Post-Partum Care

Childbirth leaves many women exhausted due to loss of blood, sleep, and over exertion during labor and delivery. Treatment right after delivery is very helpful for a healthier and faster recovery. Herbs help to replenish the loss of vital nutrients and acupuncture restores energetic balance to the body. Even though it’s hard to find the time to come in for treatment, it is time well spent because you’ll be able to best care for your infant from a place of vitality.

Insufficient lactation
Mastitis
Post-partum depression and anxiety
Insomnia and fatigue
